Sydney’s Latest Small Bar Venue

A vacant car park of a commercial CBD office building is set to become Sydney’s latest small bar venue, according to Ray White Commercial.

Office Leasing Director John Skufris said the Papa Gede’s group has secured a five year lease for the lower ground floor at 207 Clarence Street, which was formerly used as car parking by the building’s office tenants.

The tenancy is to be converted from a car park to a small bar.

said: “The city’s western corridor has proven extremely popular for small bar operators, particularly the precinct bounded by Market, Erskine, George and Kent streets.”

Known as CBD House, 207 Clarence Street is a four – level building plus basement area located between King and Market streets. The top floor is now available for lease through Ray White Commercial.

John Skufris said: “The building’s existing tenants had alternative parking options or commuted by public transport.

“We received more enquiries for the lower ground floor of 207 Clarence St from small bar operators than traditional car parking requirements.

“We also received enquiries from prospects including gym, bicycle and wellbeing groups partly due to the availability of weekend building access.”

John Skufris said venues such as Steel Espresso, Grasshopper, Stitch and Shirt Bar have lifted the social atmosphere in the CBD.

“Sydney’s small bar culture has reinvigorated less desirable city laneways,” he said.
